At least 6 new political prisoners released, all of them in Guantánamo. 5 of them from UNPACU, organization which now has total of 10 prisoners of conscience freed in two days. Remaining in Cuban prisons, therefore, there are still 33 political prisoners from the UNPACU.

The new political prisoners being released are:

  • Emilio Plana Robert, affiliated to UNPACU. He has already served 2½ years of his 3½ year penalty. From Guantánamo, province of Guantánamo.
  • Yohannes Arce Sarmientos, affiliated to UNPACU. He was recently sentenced to a three years penalty for a false crime of “atentado”. It is the first of all freed from UNPACU (seven by now) that will really be released of his almost entirely unconditional long prison penalty. From Caimanera, province of Guantánamo.
  • Jose Manuel Navarro, close and with good relations with UNPACU, he belongs to another dissident organization. From Baracoa, Guantanamo.
  • Later was released Yordenis Mendoza Cobas, affiliated to UNPACU. He was recently sentenced to a three years penalty for a false crime of “atentado”, since March 20th, 2014. From Havana.
  • Later, also, Rubislandys Mainé Villalón, affiliated to UNPACU. He was sentenced to a 5 years penalty for a false crime of “atentado”, since August 26th, 2013. From Dos Caminos, San Luis, province of Santiago de Cuba.
  • And later, also, Daniel Enrique Quesada Chaveco, affiliated to UNPACU. He was sentenced to a 8 years penalty for a false crime of “atentado”, he was in prison for 2 years and a half. From Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba.

There could be one more liberation in Pinar de Rio, Cuba, political prisoner David Pilot Barceló, but has not been confirmed yet, we are waiting for reliable sources. Seems to have made a call when left his confinement. We will keep you informed.
